Description

These smothered turkey wings are fall-off-the-bone tender and coated in a rich, savory onion gravy that’s pure comfort food. Perfect for Sunday dinners or special occasions, this Southern classic delivers big flavor with minimal effort.

Ingredients

  • turkey wings, separated at joints
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • paprika
  • olive oil
  • yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • minced garlic
  • chicken broth
  • cream of chicken soup
  • cornstarch (optional, for thickening)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • Season turkey wings generously with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.

  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and sear the turkey wings until browned on both sides.

  • Remove wings and sauté onions and garlic in the same pan until softened.

  • In a bowl, mix chicken broth and cream of chicken soup until smooth.

  • Place wings in a baking dish, top with sautéed onions and pour the soup mixture over.

  • Cover with foil and bake for 2 hours, until turkey is fork-tender.

  • If needed, thicken the gravy with cornstarch mixed in water before serving.

Notes

  • For deeper flavor, marinate the turkey wings with seasonings overnight. You can substitute cream of mushroom soup or add hot sauce for a spicy kick.
  • Serve over rice, mashed potatoes, or cornbread stuffing.
