Ingredients
For the Teriyaki Sauce:
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 cup water, divided
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated or minced
- 2 tablespoons corn starch
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
For the Stir-Fry:
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 3 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 cup shredded carrots
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, ¾ cup of water, honey, garlic, ginger, and orange zest. Stir and bring to a simmer over medium heat.
In a separate bowl, whisk cornstarch with the remaining ¼ cup of water until smooth. Slowly pour it into the sauce, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat and set aside.
Heat sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add ground turkey and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Season with salt and pepper.
Add diced onion, shredded carrots, and broccoli florets. Stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
Pour the teriyaki sauce over the turkey and vegetables, stirring to coat evenly. Let everything cook together for another 2 minutes.
Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds or green onions if desired. Enjoy with rice, quinoa, or noodles!
Notes
- If you like a sweeter teriyaki sauce, add an extra teaspoon of honey.
- To make this dish spicier, stir in red pepper flakes or a splash of sriracha.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet over low heat with a splash of water if needed.
- For a low-carb version, serve with cauliflower rice instead of regular rice.
