Description

Delicious ricotta meatballs served with marinara sauce, perfect for a family meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix until well combined.
  3. Add the breadcrumbs to the mixture and stir until fully incorporated.
  4. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter.
  5. Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches, browning them on all sides for about 5 minutes.
  6. Once browned, pour the marinara sauce over the meatballs.
  7. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and reach an internal temperature of 160°F.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired before serving.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey for ground beef.
  • Add chopped spinach or grated zucchini to the meatball mixture for extra veggies.
