- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ cup red jam (such as raspberry or strawberry)
- ½ cup blue jam (such as blueberry)
- Sprinkles (red, white, and blue) for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Using your thumb or the back of a teaspoon, make an indentation in the center of each cookie.
- Fill the indentations with red and blue jam, alternating colors for a festive look.
- Sprinkle the tops with red, white, and blue sprinkles.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

- For a softer cookie, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
