Description

Bold and hearty, this spicy sausage and spinach penne is packed with flavor from savory Italian sausage, garlic, and creamy tomato sauce with a peppery kick.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces penne pasta
  • 1 pound spicy Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 4 cups fresh spinach
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Grated Parmesan for topping

Instructions

    • Cook penne according to package instructions. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water.

    • In a large skillet, heat olive oil and brown sausage until cooked through.

    • Add garlic and red pepper flakes, cook 1 minute. Stir in marinara and cream. Simmer 5 minutes.

    • Add spinach and stir until wilted. Toss in cooked pasta and reserved water if needed.

    • Top with Parmesan and serve hot.
