Description

This Easy One Skillet Salmon with Lemon Orzo is a zesty, elegant dinner made in just one pan! Juicy salmon, creamy lemon orzo, and fresh herbs come together in under 30 minutes for a delicious, no-fuss meal that feels gourmet but couldn’t be easier.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 1/4 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Zest and juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill or parsley (plus more for garnish)
  • Lemon slices, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Sear the Salmon: Season salmon with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sear salmon skin-side down for 4-5 minutes, flip, cook another 2-3 minutes until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.

  • Sauté Orzo Base: In the same skillet, melt butter. Add garlic and orzo. Cook for 1-2 minutes until lightly toasted.

  • Cook the Orzo: Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Cook for about 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until orzo is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.

  • Add Cream & Flavor: Stir in heavy cream, lemon zest, lemon juice, Parmesan, and fresh herbs. Mix until creamy and well combined.

  • Finish & Serve: Return salmon to the skillet and let sit for a couple of minutes to warm through. Garnish with extra herbs and lemon slices. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can use half-and-half instead of heavy cream for a lighter version.
  • Add spinach or cherry tomatoes to the orzo for extra color and nutrients.
  • If the orzo gets too thick, just stir in a splash of warm broth or water.
  • Pairs well with a crisp green salad or steamed asparagus.
