Description
Maple Bacon Cinnamon Rolls are a must-try delight that combines the sweetness of maple syrup with the savory flavor of bacon, all wrapped in a soft, fluffy cinnamon roll.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup cooked bacon, chopped
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. In a small saucepan, heat the milk and melted butter until warm (about 110°F). Pour the warm mixture into the dry ingredients. Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined. Gradually add the remaining flour until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Once the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle (about 12×8 inches). Spread the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture evenly over the dough, then sprinkle the chopped bacon on top.
- Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish. Cover and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown. While the rolls are baking, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk to create a glaze.
- Once baked, remove the rolls from the oven and drizzle with maple syrup. Allow them to cool for a few minutes before drizzling the glaze on top. Serve warm.
Notes
- For a sweeter twist, add chopped pecans or walnuts along with the bacon.
- You can prepare the rolls the night before, cover them, and refrigerate. In the morning, let them rise for about 30 minutes before baking.
