Ingredients
Scale
For the Cod:
- 4 cod fillets (6 oz each)
For the Marinade & Glaze:
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
For Garnish & Serving:
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- Fresh cilantro, chopped
- Lime wedges
Instructions
- Prepare the Marinade: In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, grated ginger, minced garlic, and sesame oil.
- Marinate the Cod: Place the cod fillets in the marinade and let them sit for at least 15 minutes. For deeper flavor, marinate for up to 1 hour in the refrigerator.
- Cook the Fish: Heat a skillet over medium heat. Remove the fillets from the marinade, reserving the liquid. Sear the cod for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
- Reduce the Glaze: Pour the remaining marinade into the skillet and simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened. Spoon it over the fish.
- Garnish & Serve: Plate the cod and sprinkle with green onions, sesame seeds, and fresh cilantro. Serve with lime wedges for an extra citrusy touch.
Notes
- If using frozen cod, thaw completely and pat dry before marinating.
- To bake instead of pan-sear, preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 12-15 minutes.
- For extra heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a drizzle of Sriracha.
- Serve with rice, steamed vegetables, or a side salad for a complete meal.
