Description

This Beef and Pepper Rice Bowl is a quick, savory, and satisfying meal that comes together in under 30 minutes. Featuring tender beef, colorful bell peppers, and a rich umami sauce, this dish is perfect for busy weeknights. Served over steamed rice, it’s a comforting yet nutritious meal that delivers bold flavors in every bite.

Ingredients

  • Ground beef or thinly sliced beef
  • Red bell pepper, diced
  • Green bell pepper, diced
  • Small onion, diced
  • Cooked white or brown rice
  • Soy sauce
  • Hoisin sauce
  • Sesame oil
  • Garlic powder
  • Ground ginger

Instructions

  • In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Push the beef to one side, add sesame oil, and sauté the bell peppers and onions until slightly softened.
  • Stir in garlic powder and ground ginger, then mix everything together.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce and hoisin sauce, then pour it over the beef mixture.
  • Let the sauce simmer for 2-3 minutes, ensuring everything is well coated.
  • Divide the cooked rice into bowls, top with the beef and pepper mixture, and garnish with green onions or sesame seeds.

Notes

    • Use lean beef – If using ground beef, choose 90% lean beef to reduce excess grease.
    • Keep peppers crisp – Sauté for just a few minutes to maintain their fresh texture and vibrant color.
    • Customize the sauce – Add a dash of sriracha or chili flakes for spice, or a splash of oyster sauce for extra umami.
    • Storage – Keep leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days, and reheat gently before serving.
