Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with butter or non-stick spray.
  • Mash the Bananas:
    • In a large mixing bowl, mash the bananas with a fork until smooth.
  • Add Wet Ingredients:
    • Stir the melted butter into the mashed bananas.
    • Mix in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract until combined.
  • Incorporate Dry Ingredients:
    • Sprinkle the baking soda and salt evenly over the mixture and stir.
    • Gradually add the flour and mix until just incorporated. Do not overmix.
  • Fold in Mix-ins (Optional):
    • If using, gently fold in the chopped walnuts or chocolate chips.
  • Pour the Batter:
    • Transfer the batter into the greased loaf pan and spread it evenly.
  • Bake the Banana Bread:
    • Bake for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Cool and Serve:
    • Allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
    • Transfer to a wire rack and cool completely before slicing.

Notes

    • Choose Ripe Bananas: The riper the bananas, the sweeter and more flavorful your bread will be.
    • Don’t Overmix: Overmixing the batter can lead to dense banana bread.
    • Storage Tips: Wrap the banana bread tightly in plastic wrap or store in an airtight container. It stays fresh at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the fridge for a week.
    • Freezing Instructions: Wrap the bread in plastic wrap and aluminum foil before freezing. Thaw at room temperature for a few hours before serving.
