Description

Greek Chicken Burgers are a flavorful twist on traditional burgers, made with ground chicken and a blend of Greek ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh oregano, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried oregano)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 4 whole wheat burger buns
  • 1 cup baby spinach
  • 1 medium tomato, sliced
  • 1/2 cucumber, sliced

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, feta cheese, Greek yogurt, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, oregano, lemon juice, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
  2. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 1/2 inch thick.
  3. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium heat. Lightly grease the grill or skillet with cooking spray or a little olive oil.
  4. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F and the burgers are golden brown.
  5. Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly browned.
  6. Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on each bun, then topping with baby spinach, sliced tomato, and cucumber. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For added flavor, mix in chopped kalamata olives or sun-dried tomatoes into the burger mixture.
  • Serve with a side of tzatziki sauce for dipping or drizzling on top for an extra Greek flair.
