Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 cup colorful sprinkles (jimmies or confetti)
- 1 cup frosting (store-bought or homemade)
- Additional sprinkles for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla and almond extracts.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Fold in the colorful sprinkles.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, spread the frosting over the top of the cake and sprinkle with additional sprinkles for decoration.
Notes
- For a fun twist, try adding a layer of fruit preserves under the frosting for added flavor.
- You can also substitute half of the all-purpose flour with almond flour for a slightly nutty taste and texture.
