Description

This Crockpot Mississippi Chicken recipe delivers tender, flavorful chicken with a savory, buttery gravy that’s irresistibly delicious. Made effortlessly in the slow cooker with just a few simple ingredients, it’s a comforting, crowd-pleasing meal that your whole family will adore!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 packet (1 oz.) ranch dressing mix
  • 1 packet (1 oz.) au jus gravy mix
  • 6 pepperoncini peppers (whole or sliced, plus extra for garnish)
  • ½ cup pepperoncini juice (from jar)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, sliced
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Prepare the Slow Cooker:
Spray your crockpot with nonstick cooking spray for easy cleanup.

  • Add Chicken and Seasonings:
Place chicken breasts into the crockpot, arranging evenly. Sprinkle ranch dressing mix and au jus gravy mix evenly over the chicken.

  • Add Pepperoncini and Butter:
Pour pepperoncini juice over the seasoned chicken. Add pepperoncini peppers on top, and place butter slices evenly across the chicken breasts.

  • Cook:
Cover and cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or on HIGH for 3-4 hours, until chicken is tender and easily shredded with a fork.

  • Shred and Serve:
Once cooked, shred the chicken with two forks directly in the crockpot, mixing well with the flavorful juices.

  • Enjoy:
Serve hot over mashed potatoes, cooked rice, pasta, or on sandwich buns. Garnish with additional pepperoncini peppers, if desired.

Notes

  • Flavor Adjustments: Adjust the number of pepperoncini peppers according to your preferred spice and tanginess level.
  • Optional Ingredients: Add sliced onions or garlic cloves at the beginning for extra depth of flavor.
  • Serving Suggestions: Mississippi chicken pairs beautifully with creamy mashed potatoes, rice, or crusty rolls for easy sandwiches.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days, or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat gently before serving.
