Description

These rich, fudgy chocolate cookies are rolled in powdered sugar before baking, creating a crinkly, crackled look and soft, brownie-like texture. A must-bake for holidays or any time you need a chocolate fix.

Ingredients

Scale
    • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
    • ½ cup vegetable oil
    • 4 large eggs
    • 2 tsp vanilla extract
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 2 tsp baking powder
    • ½ tsp salt
    • ½ cup powdered sugar (for rolling)

Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix cocoa, sugar, and oil. Beat in eggs one at a time, then vanilla.

  • In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to wet mixture.

  • Cover dough and chill for at least 2 hours or overnight.

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment.

  • Roll chilled dough into 1-inch balls, then roll in powdered sugar.

  • Place on baking sheet 2 inches apart.

  • Bake for 10–12 minutes. Cookies will be soft but set as they cool.

  • Cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

  • Chilling the dough is essential for the signature crinkle look.
  • Add espresso powder for enhanced chocolate flavor.
