Ingredients
Scale
For the filling:
- 1 pound breakfast sausage
- 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
- 1 can (10 ounces) Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies, drained
For the crescent rolls:
- 2 cans (8 ounces each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted (optional for brushing)
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional for added flavor)
Instructions
Cook the Sausage
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease.
Prepare the Filling
- Add the softened cream cheese and drained Rotel tomatoes to the cooked sausage. Stir until well combined and creamy.
Assemble the Crescent Bites
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles.
- Place a spoonful of the sausage mixture onto the wider end of each crescent roll triangle.
- Roll the dough over the filling and tuck the ends to seal.
Bake Until Golden
- Place the filled crescent rolls on a lined baking sheet.
- Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder for extra flavor (optional).
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve and Enjoy
- Let the bites cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces like ranch, honey mustard, or spicy sriracha mayo.
Notes
- Drain the Rotel tomatoes well to prevent excess moisture in the filling.
- If making ahead, assemble the crescent rolls and store them in the fridge until ready to bake.
- For a spicier version, use hot sausage or add red pepper flakes.
- These bites can be frozen before baking—just bake straight from the freezer for an extra 5-7 minutes.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge and reheated in the oven at 350°F for 10 minutes.
