Description
Cheesy Hamburger Hashbrown Casserole is a comforting and easy-to-make dish that combines ground beef, hash browns, and cheese for a delicious meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 (30-ounce) bag frozen hash browns
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 cup green onions, sliced (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is browned and the onion is translucent. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Remove from heat and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine the frozen hash browns, 1 cup of cheddar cheese, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, milk, and paprika. Mix well.
- Add the cooked beef mixture to the hash brown mixture and stir until fully combined.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Top with the remaining cup of cheddar cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the cheese is melted and golden.
- Let it cool for 5-10 minutes before serving. Garnish with sliced green onions if desired.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños or a teaspoon of cayenne pepper to the beef mixture.
- Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option, and use low-fat cheese and sour cream for a healthier twist.
