Description

Cheddar Cheese Bites are a delicious and easy-to-make snack that combines the rich flavor of sharp cheddar cheese with a crispy exterior. Perfect for parties or as a quick treat!


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Add the shredded cheddar cheese, egg, and Dijon mustard. Mix until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the cheese mixture, stirring until a dough forms. If using cayenne pepper, fold it in at this stage.
  5. Using a tablespoon, scoop out portions of the dough and roll them into balls. Place the balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until the bites are golden brown. Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
  7. Serve warm or at room temperature.

  • For a twist, try adding cooked and crumbled bacon or chopped herbs like chives or parsley to the dough.
  • You can also substitute half of the cheddar cheese with grated Parmesan for a different flavor profile.
