Description

Baked Orange Chicken is a delicious twist on a classic dish, featuring crispy chicken coated in a sweet and tangy orange sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange zest
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a shallow dish, combine flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
  3. In another dish, place the beaten eggs.
  4. In a third dish, add the panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Coat each piece of chicken in the flour mixture, then dip it into the beaten eggs, and finally coat it with panko breadcrumbs.
  6. Place the coated chicken pieces on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake the chicken in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through, flipping halfway through.
  8. While the chicken is baking, prepare the orange sauce by combining orange juice, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, cornstarch, and orange zest in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the mixture thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
  9. Once the chicken is done baking, remove it from the oven and drizzle the orange sauce over the chicken, tossing to coat evenly.
  10. Return the chicken to the oven for an additional 5 minutes to allow the sauce to caramelize slightly.
  11. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, consider adding chopped nuts like cashews or peanuts to the panko mixture.
  • You can substitute chicken thighs with chicken breasts for a leaner option.
  • For a spicier kick, add a teaspoon of red pepper flakes to the orange sauce.
