Description

These Crispy Ham and Cheese Puff Pastry Sticks are the ultimate savory snack—flaky, buttery, and filled with melty cheese and savory ham. Perfect as an appetizer, brunch addition, or quick snack, they’re easy to make and bake to golden perfection. Serve them warm with your favorite dipping sauce, or enjoy them on their own for a deliciously crispy bite!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 6 ounces sliced ham
  • 6 ounces shredded cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or your choice)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon mustard (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Prepare the Puff Pastry: Roll out the thawed puff pastry slightly to smooth it out. Cut into 1-inch wide strips, about 6 inches long.
  • Assemble the Sticks:
    • Spread a thin layer of mustard on each strip (if using).
    • Place a slice of ham and a sprinkle of cheese on one end of each strip.
  • Roll and Seal:
    • Tightly roll each strip into a stick shape, sealing the edges.
    • Place on the prepared baking sheet, seam side down.
  • Egg Wash and Topping:
    • Beat the egg and brush over the sticks.
    • Sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds for added crunch (optional).
  • Bake:
    • Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Serve and Enjoy:
    • Let cool slightly and serve warm, with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, bake at a slightly higher temp (425°F) for the last few minutes.
  • Swap the cheese for mozzarella, gouda, or parmesan for a different flavor.
  • Storage: Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F for 5-10 minutes for best results.
  • Make Ahead: Assemble and freeze before baking, then bake from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to the baking time.
