- In a medium saucepan, add the cranberries, water, maple syrup, orange zest, and a pinch of salt. Stir together until well blended.
- Place the saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally until it reaches a vigorous boil, about 5-7 minutes.
- Reduce the heat to a gentle simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes until most cranberries burst and the sauce thickens.
- Remove from heat and gently smash any unpopped cranberries. Stir in orange liqueur if using.
- Allow the sauce to cool for about 30 minutes before transferring to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
