Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a medium saucepan, add the cranberries, water, maple syrup, orange zest, and a pinch of salt. Stir together until well blended.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally until it reaches a vigorous boil, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Reduce the heat to a gentle simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes until most cranberries burst and the sauce thickens.
  4. Remove from heat and gently smash any unpopped cranberries. Stir in orange liqueur if using.
  5. Allow the sauce to cool for about 30 minutes before transferring to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
