Preparation Steps
- Start by hard-boiling the eggs in a pot of water. Cook for 9–10 minutes, then transfer to an ice bath for 5 minutes.
- In a bowl, combine water and black food coloring gel. Stir until water is dark.
- Crack cooled eggs and place them in the coloring solution. Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours.
- Rinse the eggs under cool water. Gently peel each egg to reveal spiderweb patterns.
- Slice the eggs in half, scoop yolks into a bowl, and mash with mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, salt, and pepper.
- Optionally, stir in a few drops of food coloring for festive yolk mixture.
- Fill egg whites with yolk mixture using a spoon or piping bag, creating a mound on top.
- Garnish filled eggs with smoked paprika and optional black sesame seeds or chives.
