Ingredients

  • 1 pound Raw Shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 2 teaspoons Dark Chili Powder substitute with cayenne if you crave extra spice
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika regular paprika can work in a pinch
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cumin coriander can be a substitute
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Oregano Mexican oregano enhances authenticity
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced) garlic powder can be used as an alternative
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes adjust based on spice preference
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt feel free to use sea salt

For the Avocado Crema
  • 1/4 cup Cilantro basil can be used as a substitute
  • 1 small Jalapeño remove seeds to tone down heat
  • 1/2 cup Plain Greek Yogurt sour cream can replace it
For the Cabbage Slaw
  • 2 cups Green Cabbage adds crunch
  • 1 cup Purple Cabbage enhances slaw with vibrant color
For Assembly

Method
 

Marinate Shrimp
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together dark chili powder, smoked paprika, ground cumin, dried oregano, minced garlic, red pepper flakes, kosher salt, lime juice, and avocado oil. Add the shrimp and stir gently. Cover and refrigerate for 20-30 minutes.
Prepare Avocado Crema
  1. In a food processor, combine avocado, cilantro, jalapeño, minced garlic, lime juice, Greek yogurt, avocado oil, and a pinch of salt. Blend until smooth and adjust consistency with water.
Make Cabbage Slaw
  1. Slice green and purple cabbage thinly. In a bowl, combine the shredded cabbages and toss with avocado crema.
Cook the Shrimp
  1. Preheat skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Cook marinated shrimp for about 4-6 minutes until pink and opaque.
Assemble Tacos
  1. Warm tortillas in a skillet for 1-2 minutes. Fill each with shrimp, top with cabbage slaw, and drizzle avocado crema.
