Ingredients

For the Chicken:
  • 4 boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • Cooking spray
For the Soy Garlic Sauce:
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey or brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
For Garnish:
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions sliced

Method

  1. Marinate Chicken:In a bowl, toss chicken thighs with soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic powder, black pepper, and cornstarch. Let marinate for 10-15 minutes while preheating the air fryer.
  2. Preheat Air Fryer:Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes.
  3. Cook Chicken:Lightly spray air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place chicken thighs in a single layer. Air fry for 12-14 minutes, flipping halfway, until crispy and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F/74°C).
  4. Make Soy Garlic Sauce:In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, and 1 tablespoon water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat. Stir in cornstarch and cook until sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
  5. Coat Chicken:Remove chicken from air fryer and brush generously with the soy garlic sauce.
  6. Garnish & Serve:Sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve hot with steamed rice or a side of veggies.

Notes

  • Chicken Options: You can use bone-in thighs or drumsticks; just adjust cooking time.
  • Spice It Up: Add a teaspoon of Gochujang or chili flakes to the sauce for a spicy kick.
  • Make Ahead: Marinate chicken up to 24 hours ahead for deeper flavor.
  • Crispier Option: For extra crispiness, spray chicken lightly with oil before air frying.
