For the Roasted Red Pepper Relish
  • 1 cup Roasted Red Peppers Use jarred or homemade peppers based on your preference.
  • 1/4 cup Red Onion or Green Onions Feel free to adjust the quantity to your taste.
  • 1 clove Garlic If fresh isn’t available, garlic powder will suffice.
  • 1/4 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Avocado Oil Any light oil is a suitable substitute.
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley Basil can be used for a different aromatic profile.
  • 1 tsp Oregano Dried oregano works in a pinch if fresh is unavailable.
  • 1 tbsp Balsamic Vinegar or Red Wine Vinegar Adjust the amount according to your personal taste preferences.
  • 1 pinch Kosher Salt Reduce if you’re using table salt.

Equipment

  • grill
  • Mixing bowl
  • Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • resealable bag

Method

Marinate and Cook the Steak
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together sesame oil, soy sauce, and brown sugar until well combined. Place skirt steak in a resealable bag, coating it thoroughly with the marinade. Marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Remove steak from marinade, letting excess drip off, and sear for 2.5 to 3 minutes per side until browned.
  3. Transfer the steak to a cutting board and let it rest for about 5 minutes before slicing against the grain into thin strips.
Prepare the Relish
  1. Finely dice roasted red peppers, red onion, and garlic. Combine in a bowl with parsley, oregano, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and salt. Mix well and set aside.
Serve
  1. Arrange sliced skirt steak on a plate and spoon the roasted red pepper relish over the top. Garnish with fresh parsley or green onions if desired.
