Preparation Steps
  1. Begin by washing the tomatoes under cool running water and chop them into bite-sized pieces. Set aside in a large mixing bowl.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, vinegar, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes.
  3. Add the chopped tomatoes to the bowl with the dressing. Tear in the fresh basil or parsley and gently toss everything together.
  4. Pour the remaining dressing over the tomato mixture and toss gently until all components are well combined.
  5. Allow the salad to rest for at least 5-10 minutes to let flavors mingle.
