Ingredients
  

For the Shrimp
  • 1 pound Fresh shrimp, shelled and deveined Substitute with prawns or chicken as needed
  • 1 large Egg Can use a flax egg for vegan option
For the Coating
  • 1/2 cup All-purpose flour Gluten-free flour can be used as an alternative
  • 1/4 cup Cornstarch Can be replaced with more flour
  • 1 teaspoon Red chili powder Adjust for spice preference
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika Regular paprika can be substituted
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder Fresh garlic can be used instead
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt Consider reducing for low sodium
For Deep Frying

For the Spicy Creamy Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Mayonnaise Vegan mayo is a good substitute
  • 2 tablespoons Sriracha sauce Adjust for heat as desired

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ½ cup of mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons of sriracha, 1 tablespoon of honey, and 1 tablespoon of ketchup. Mix until smooth and set aside.
  2. In another bowl, marinate 1 pound of shrimp with 1 teaspoon of red chili powder, 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika, ½ teaspoon of salt, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, and the beaten egg.
  3. Prepare a dredging mixture with ½ cup of all-purpose flour, ¼ cup of cornstarch, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, and a pinch of salt.
  4. Heat sufficient cooking oil in a deep frying pan to around 350°F (175°C).
  5. Coat each marinated shrimp in the dredging mixture and shake off excess flour.
  6. Fry the coated shrimp in batches for 3-4 minutes until golden-brown and crispy.
  7. In a large serving bowl, toss the fried shrimp with the spicy creamy sauce until well-coated.
  8. Serve the shrimp on a bed of lettuce, garnished with spring onions and sesame seeds.
