Step-by-Step Instructions for Berry Basil Lemonade
  1. In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of white sugar. Heat over medium-high until the mixture reaches a boil, stirring regularly until the sugar fully dissolves.
  2. While the syrup cools, prepare the fruit by blending together 1 cup of raspberries and 1 cup of hulled and halved strawberries until smooth.
  3. Add the blended berry puree into the cooled syrup along with 8-10 torn basil leaves. Stir gently and heat on low for about 5 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and cool completely. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a large pitcher.
  5. Squeeze about 1 cup of fresh lemon juice and strain it into the pitcher with the syrup.
  6. Add 8 cups of cold water to the pitcher, stirring well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
