Ingredients
Method
Step 1: Preheat Your Oven
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick cooking spray.
Step 2: Prepare the Peaches
- Open the cans of peaches and pour them (including the syrup) into the prepared baking dish.
- Spread the peaches evenly across the bottom of the dish.
- Sprinkle the ground cinnamon and nutmeg over the peaches for added warmth and flavor.
Step 3: Add the Cake Mix
- Evenly sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix over the peaches, making sure it covers the fruit entirely.
- Use a spatula or your hands to gently level the cake mix if needed.
Step 4: Top with Butter and Sugar
- Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the top of the cake mix. Try to cover as much surface area as possible for a golden crust.
- Sprinkle the brown sugar over the butter to create a caramelized topping.
Step 5: Bake the Cake
- Place the baking dish in the preheated oven.
- Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the peach filling is bubbling around the edges.
Step 6: Serve and Enjoy
- Let the cake cool for 10–15 minutes before serving to allow the filling to set slightly.
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for the ultimate treat.
Notes
- Fresh Peaches Option: You can use fresh peaches instead of canned. Peel and slice 6–8 ripe peaches, then toss them with 1/4 cup sugar and 1/4 cup water to mimic the syrup.
- Mix It Up: Swap yellow cake mix for white cake mix or spice cake mix for a unique flavor twist.
- Add Crunch: Sprinkle chopped pecans, walnuts, or sliced almonds on top of the cake mix before baking for added texture.
- Storage Tips: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat individual portions in the microwave.
