One-Pan Sausage and Spinach Pasta Recipe is delicious!

Bold and hearty, this spicy sausage and spinach penne is packed with flavor from savory Italian sausage, garlic, and creamy tomato sauce with a peppery kick.

Ingredients
  

  • 12 ounces penne pasta
  • 1 pound spicy Italian sausage casings removed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 4 cups fresh spinach
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Grated Parmesan for topping

Method
 

  1. Cook penne according to package instructions. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil and brown sausage until cooked through.
  3. Add garlic and red pepper flakes, cook 1 minute. Stir in marinara and cream. Simmer 5 minutes.
  4. Add spinach and stir until wilted. Toss in cooked pasta and reserved water if needed.
  5. Top with Parmesan and serve hot.

Notes

  • Use turkey sausage for a lighter option
  • Adjust spice level by reducing red pepper flakes
  • Great as a next-day lunch
