Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare three round cake pans by greasing them with butter or lining them with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well blended.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Divide the batter evenly into three separate bowls. To one bowl, add melted chocolate; into another, stir in pureed strawberries; leave the third bowl plain.
  5. Pour each flavored batter into its prepared cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Once baked, let the layers cool for 10 minutes on a wire rack, then turn them out to cool completely.
  7. Spread a layer of cream cheese frosting on the chocolate layer, stack the strawberry layer next, followed by the vanilla layer.
  8. Frost the sides and top of the cake, and decorate with fresh strawberries or chocolate shavings if desired.
