Step-by-Step Instructions

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together maple syrup, sourdough starter, avocado oil, sour cream, buttermilk, eggs, vanilla, salt, baking powder, and baking soda until just combined.
  3. Fold in the flour until no dry spots remain, leaving some lumps for a tender texture.
  4. Mix brown sugar with ground cinnamon for the cinnamon layer and combine flour, butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon for streusel topping.
  5. Pour half of the batter into the pan, sprinkle the cinnamon layer, then top with remaining batter.
  6. Sprinkle the streusel topping evenly over the batter and bake for 40-45 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. For deeper flavor, refrigerate the batter overnight for long fermentation before baking.
