Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger grated
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes optional
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water
  • 2 cups cooked white or brown rice
  • 1 cup steamed broccoli
  • ½ cup shredded carrots
  • 2 tbsp green onions chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds for garnish

Method

  1. Cook the Beef: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Make the Sauce: Add garlic and ginger to the beef, then stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes.
  3. Thicken the Sauce: Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef.
  4. Assemble the Bowls: Divide the cooked rice into bowls. Top with teriyaki beef, steamed broccoli, and shredded carrots.
  5. Serve: Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Enjoy hot!

Notes

  • Swap ground beef for ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
  • Add a splash of pineapple juice to the sauce for extra sweetness.
  • Serve with a fried egg on top for a delicious twist!
