- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a 10x15-inch baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Evenly space approximately 40 saltine crackers in a single layer across the prepared baking sheet.
- Melt 1 cup of unsalted butter in a saucepan over medium heat and stir in light brown sugar until boiling.
- Pour the hot toffee mixture over the crackers and bake for 5 minutes, until bubbly.
- Sprinkle 2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips on the hot toffee and spread after they soften.
- Add optional toppings while the chocolate is warm, pressing them in gently.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours until firm.
- Lift the Christmas Crack from the baking sheet and break into pieces.
