Ingredients

  • Flank steak thinly sliced
  • Soy sauce
  • White sugar
  • Cornstarch
  • Ground ginger
  • Vegetable oil
  • Red onion cut into 1-inch squares
  • Green bell pepper cut into 1-inch squares
  • Tomatoes cut into wedges

Method

  1. Marinate the beef by combining soy sauce, sugar, cornstarch, and ginger. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
  2. Sear the beef in a hot skillet until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. Stir-fry the onion and bell pepper until slightly softened.
  4. Return the beef to the skillet, add the tomato wedges, and cook for another 2 minutes.
  5. Serve hot over steamed rice for a complete meal.

Notes

    • Slice beef against the grain – This makes it more tender and easier to chew.
    • Use a hot pan – A hot skillet or wok helps sear the beef quickly without overcooking.
    • Balance the flavors – If the sauce is too salty, add a pinch of sugar; if it's too sweet, add a splash of soy sauce.
    • Make it spicy – Add red pepper flakes or sriracha for extra heat.
    • Storage – Keep leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
