  • 2 large Eggs Plus 1 yolk, or can use 3 whole eggs for thicker cookies
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract Do not substitute
  • 2 1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour Can use gluten-free flour if necessary
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda No substitutes recommended
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder Essential for rise
  • 1/2 teaspoon Kosher Salt Can substitute with table salt
For the Mix-Ins
  • 2 cups Old Fashioned Oats Do not use quick-cooking oats
  • 1 cup Halloween M&M’s Regular M&M’s can be used
  • 1 cup Mini Pretzel Sticks (crushed) Can use whole mini pretzels
  • 1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips Dark chocolate is great for a bolder taste

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together 1 cup of salted butter, ¾ cup of dark brown sugar, and ¾ cup of light brown sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Add in 2 large eggs plus 1 yolk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract; mix until well combined.
  4. Whisk together 2 ½ cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, and ½ teaspoon of kosher salt, then fold into the wet ingredients.
  5. Fold in 2 cups of old-fashioned oats, 1 cup of crushed mini pretzel sticks, 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips, and 1 ½ cups of Halloween M&M’s.
  6. Scoop dough using a quarter-cup measure and place them on the baking sheet, spacing them about 3 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 8 minutes, then rotate and bake for an additional 2 minutes. Press more M&M’s onto each cookie and bake for 2-3 more minutes.
  8. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
