Ingredients

  • 1 package crescent roll dough or puff pastry
  • ½ lb thinly sliced deli ham
  • 1 cup shredded cheese cheddar, Swiss, or mozzarella
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard optional
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

Method

  1. Preheat the Oven
  2. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Prepare the Dough
  4. Roll out the crescent roll dough or puff pastry on a lightly floured surface, pressing any seams together to form a single sheet.
  5. Layer the Fillings
  6. If using, spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard over the dough. Evenly layer the ham slices over the entire sheet, then sprinkle the shredded cheese on top.
  7. Roll and Slice
  8. Starting from the shorter edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Using a sharp knife, slice the log into 1-inch thick pinwheels.
  9. Bake the Pinwheels
  10. Place the pinwheels on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart. Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with Italian seasoning and garlic powder. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  11. Serve and Enjoy
  12. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm with your favorite dipping sauce!

Notes

  • You can swap crescent roll dough for puff pastry for a crispier texture.
  • Use your favorite cheese combination for different flavor profiles.
  • These pinwheels can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • To reheat, bake at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes or microwave for 30 seconds.
  • If freezing, assemble the pinwheels and freeze them before baking. When ready, bake from frozen with an extra 5-7 minutes of cooking time.
