  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar or coconut sugar
  • 1 large Egg or 1 flax egg (1 tbsp ground flaxseed + 3 tbsp water)
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour or gluten-free flour
  • 1/4 tsp Salt use Himalayan or sea salt
For the Filling
  • 1 cup Jam smooth, raspberry or strawberry recommended

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and brown sugar. Beat in egg or flax egg and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Sift in all-purpose flour and salt, mixing on low speed until just combined to form a soft dough.
  4. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the baking sheet with space in between.
  5. Create an indentation in each ball with your thumb, shaping it into a heart.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until edges are lightly golden; redefine heart shapes if necessary.
  7. Cool cookies on a baking sheet for a minute before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Once cooled, fill each heart-shaped indent with your choice of jam.
