  • 1.5 lbs Ground Beef Can substitute with turkey or chicken
  • 1 cup Jasmine Rice Uncooked, Arborio rice works as a substitute
  • 1 small Onion Diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced
  • 2.5 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 2 Tbsp Canola Oil Used for sautéing
  • 2 Lemons Divided; use one for juice in filling and one for garnish
  • 3/4 cup Fresh Herbs Mint, dill, Italian parsley, and oregano
  • Grape Leaves Can substitute with blanched cabbage leaves
For Cooking
  • 2 cups Chicken Broth
  • 1/2 stick Unsalted Butter Melted

Method
 

Step‑by‑Step Instructions for Dolmades
  1. Prepare the grape leaves by rinsing them under cool water and set aside on a clean kitchen towel.
  2. Sauté the onion and garlic in canola oil over medium heat for about 5 minutes until translucent.
  3. Mix the filling by combining ground beef, jasmine rice, sautéed onion and garlic, fresh herbs, water, salt, pepper, and lemon juice.
  4. Stuff the grape leaves, rolling them tightly with a spoonful of filling.
  5. Prepare for cooking by pouring chicken broth over dolmades and drizzling with melted butter and lemon juice.
  6. Simmer the dolmades on low heat for about 1 hour.
  7. Cool for about 10 minutes in the broth before serving.
