Preparation Steps
  1. Begin by slicing the fresh French baguette or ciabatta in half lengthwise. Hollow out the top half of the bread, leaving some crust for structure.
  2. Drizzle olive oil over the cut sides of the bread. Heat a skillet over medium heat and toast the bread cut-side down for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Spread basil pesto evenly across the bottom half of the toasted bread and apply Calabrian chili paste to the top half.
  4. Layer the prosciutto di Parma slices over the basil pesto on the bottom half.
  5. Pat the burrata cheese dry and place it atop the prosciutto. Sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt over the cheese.
  6. Press the top half of the bread down onto the burrata. Allow to settle before cutting.
  7. Cut the assembled sandwich in half and serve warm, optionally sprinkling freshly cracked black pepper on top.
