Preparation Steps
- Begin by slicing the fresh French baguette or ciabatta in half lengthwise. Hollow out the top half of the bread, leaving some crust for structure.
- Drizzle olive oil over the cut sides of the bread. Heat a skillet over medium heat and toast the bread cut-side down for 2-3 minutes.
- Spread basil pesto evenly across the bottom half of the toasted bread and apply Calabrian chili paste to the top half.
- Layer the prosciutto di Parma slices over the basil pesto on the bottom half.
- Pat the burrata cheese dry and place it atop the prosciutto. Sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt over the cheese.
- Press the top half of the bread down onto the burrata. Allow to settle before cutting.
- Cut the assembled sandwich in half and serve warm, optionally sprinkling freshly cracked black pepper on top.
