Step‑by‑Step Instructions for Spicy Garlicky Sesame Tofu
  1. Start by cooking your favorite rice according to package instructions and steam the broccoli until tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Preheat your oven to 425°F (218°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Crumble the tofu into ½ to 1-inch pieces, toss with oil and salt, then spread evenly on the baking sheet.
  4. Bake the tofu for 20-25 minutes, turning halfway through until golden and crispy.
  5. In a saucepan, combine maple syrup, tamari, rice vinegar, sesame oil, red pepper flakes, and grated garlic. Simmer over medium heat.
  6. Mix together cornstarch and water until smooth, then whisk into the sauce as it simmers until thick.
  7. Toss the cooked tofu in the sauce until well-coated and allow to cook together for an additional minute.
  8. Serve the tofu over the cooked rice with steamed broccoli, garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.
