  1. Start by washing and peeling the potatoes and onion. Set your grater and a mixing bowl nearby.
  2. Using a box grater or food processor, shred the potatoes and onion together. Let the mixture rest and drain off any excess liquid.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the grated potatoes and onion with a pinch of salt, freshly cracked pepper, flour, and beaten egg. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat until it shimmers.
