Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prep Ingredients: Peel and cube potatoes, soak them. Dice onion and carrots, chop celery, slice leek, and mince garlic.
  2. Cook Bacon: In a pot, cook chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy, then remove with a slotted spoon.
  3. Brown Sausage: Slice sausage and cook in bacon fat until browned, then remove and set aside.
  4. Sauté Vegetables: Add butter to pot, melt it, then add diced onion, carrots, celery, leek, and garlic.
  5. Combine Ingredients: Pour in broth, add drained potatoes, bay leaves, marjoram, salt, pepper, and nutmeg, then boil.
  6. Finish Soup: Once potatoes are tender, return bacon and sausage, add half & half, and simmer for 5 minutes.
