Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine rice, soup, water, milk, and onion soup mix. Stir until smooth.
  3. Stir in half of the cheddar cheese and nestle the chicken into the rice mixture.
  4. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 1.5 to 2 hours, checking for doneness after 90 minutes.
  5. Remove foil, add remaining cheese, and bake until melted and golden.
  6. Let the casserole sit for 15 to 20 minutes before serving.
