Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with olive oil or non-stick spray.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add ground turkey and season with ¼ teaspoon kosher salt. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until browned.
  3. Add 2 tablespoons of butter and 1 diced onion to the skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes until softened, then add 2 minced garlic cloves and sauté for 30 seconds.
  4. Reduce heat to low, sprinkle 2 tablespoons of flour over the mixture, whisk in 1 cup of chicken broth and 1 cup of milk. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until thickened.
  5. Stir in 2 cups of broccoli florets and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Mix in 1 cup of cheddar cheese, season with salt and black pepper.
  6. In the greased dish, combine cooked turkey and 3 cups of cooked rice. Pour the sauce over and stir gently, then sprinkle remaining cheese on top.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Let rest for 5-10 minutes before serving, enhancing flavors and texture.
