- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Using a fine-mesh strainer, drain your Irish stew to eliminate excess liquid.
- In a small bowl, whisk together one large egg and a splash of water to create your egg wash.
- In another bowl, mix together the salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Sprinkle this seasoning over your drained stew.
- Lightly spray your pie tins with canola oil to prevent sticking.
- Roll out your puff pastry on a floured surface and cut it into shapes that fit your pie tins.
- Line your prepared pie tins with the base pieces of pastry.
- Brush the edges of the filled pie bases with the prepared egg wash.
- Carefully place the top pastry pieces over the filled pie and press down the edges.
- Brush the top crust with the remaining egg wash and sprinkle the black sesame seeds on top.
- Place the assembled pies in the preheated oven and bake for about 40 minutes.
