Servings: 16 crescent bites
Course: Appetizer
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

For the filling:
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 1 package 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 can 10 ounces Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies, drained
For the crescent rolls:
  • 2 cans 8 ounces each refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted (optional for brushing)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder optional for added flavor

Method

  1. Cook the Sausage
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease.
  3. Prepare the Filling
  4. Add the softened cream cheese and drained Rotel tomatoes to the cooked sausage. Stir until well combined and creamy.
  5. Assemble the Crescent Bites
  6. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles.
  8. Place a spoonful of the sausage mixture onto the wider end of each crescent roll triangle.
  9. Roll the dough over the filling and tuck the ends to seal.
  10. Bake Until Golden
  11. Place the filled crescent rolls on a lined baking sheet.
  12. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder for extra flavor (optional).
  13. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  14. Serve and Enjoy
  15. Let the bites cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces like ranch, honey mustard, or spicy sriracha mayo.

Notes

  • Drain the Rotel tomatoes well to prevent excess moisture in the filling.
  • If making ahead, assemble the crescent rolls and store them in the fridge until ready to bake.
  • For a spicier version, use hot sausage or add red pepper flakes.
  • These bites can be frozen before baking—just bake straight from the freezer for an extra 5-7 minutes.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge and reheated in the oven at 350°F for 10 minutes.
