Ingredients

  • 1 box cake mix plus ingredients as per box instructions – choose your favorite flavor
  • 2 boxes instant pudding mix plus milk as per box instructions – pistachio, banana, or vanilla work great!
  • 1 container heavy cream or Cool Whip
  • Food coloring pastel colors work best!
  • Decorating ingredients of your choice Spring sprinkles, M&Ms, Peeps, shredded coconut, or anything festive!

Method

  1. Bake the Cake – Prepare the cake mix according to package instructions, adding food coloring if desired for a pastel effect. Bake in a 9x13-inch pan and let it cool completely.
  2. Poke and Fill with Pudding – Use the handle of a wooden spoon to poke holes evenly across the cake. Prepare the instant pudding as directed, then pour it over the cake, ensuring it seeps into the holes for extra moisture and flavor.
  3. Top with Whipped Cream – Spread a thick layer of whipped cream (or Cool Whip) over the pudding-soaked cake.
  4. Decorate for a Festive Touch – Sprinkle on pastel M&Ms, coconut, sprinkles, or even add Peeps for a fun and colorful finish.
  5. Chill and Serve – Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before slicing. Serve chilled and enjoy this creamy, delightful treat!

Notes

  • Letting the cake cool completely before adding pudding prevents a soggy texture.
  • Try different pudding flavors for unique combinations—chocolate, lemon, or even coconut work well!
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to five days.
