This Baked Penne is a cheesy, saucy comfort food favorite layered with rich marinara, hearty ground beef, and melted mozzarella for the perfect weeknight pasta bake.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound penne pasta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 jar 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Cook penne according to package instructions; drain and set aside. In a skillet, heat oil and brown the ground beef.
  2. Stir in marinara sauce and Italian seasoning, and simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Combine cooked pasta and meat sauce.
  4. Spread half the mixture into a greased baking dish, sprinkle with half the mozzarella, then repeat layers.
  5. Top with Parmesan and bake for 25 minutes until bubbly and golden.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or sausage.
  • Add ricotta for a creamier texture.
